Parametric design has allowed the production of complex 3D forms more accessible, However often as these designs are propagated through media the way these designs are presented is completely form driven. This leads to a backlash and skepticism from the profession and prevents these tools being used to their full potential. More often than not Parametric designs are presented in a stark way. Be that through white or grey renders, flat blank material and slick clean metallic architecture. Parametric design has become one of visual seduction. Just like the Gallery and the curator, empty contrasting and sterile materialities are employed in order to allow form to come to the fore, Just as fine paintings are displayed on a wall. However what if one was to invert this relationship? Take away the privileging of the formal qualities of parametric design. The strategy I am employing in this endeavour is to replace the module of the parametric design, that constanly iterated and slightly altered fundamental to a field/ mesh/ Facade and replace it with an object. This would be a real object. An existing entity with all the graphic iconography the distinguishes it as a specific thing. Meaningful. An object with its own external complexities, identity and history. This employs the same strategy as before, out seducing the seducer. This maximalism allows the parametric system to function as a design component not of photogenic appeal but might allow it to act as an index or organisational strategy of the already present.
